LONDON

London features two emissions zones that require attention. The first is the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), and the second is the Low Emission Zone (LEZ).

The ULEZ encompasses a significant portion of the city and is set to extend across all London boroughs. Non-compliant vehicles, those not meeting Euro 4 standards for petrol or Euro 6 standards for diesel, incur a daily fee. This charge amounts to £12.50 for cars, motorcycles, and vans, and £100 for heavier vehicles like lorries exceeding 3.5 tonnes and buses or coaches weighing more than five tonnes.

For a comprehensive understanding of the clean zones, we recommend utilizing the government’s TFL tool to verify your vehicle’s compliance status.

The Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year (except Christmas Day) to help clear London’s air.

The zone operates across all London boroughs and the City of London. The M25 is not in the zone.

Even if you make a short trip inside the zone using a vehicle that doesn’t meet the ULEZ emissions standards, you need to pay the £12.50 daily charge. This includes residents of the ULEZ. However, you don’t need to pay the ULEZ charge on a particular day if your vehicle is parked inside the zone and you don’t drive it.
